The view to the backyard was important to our clients. They needed more storage for small appliances, counter space for prepping meals, and large gatherings. They wanted a contemporary look for the space that blended with the adjacent rooms in the home.
Our client spends lots of time on their landscaping/garden, so we moved the doorway into the kitchen to create a focal point on the window. We went with a flush mount hood to avoid anything that could block the view. We also replaced the back door with a full light door, so we could have maximum view into the back yard. A few unique features in the kitchen included; false drawer panels all around the island for a sleek look, a mixer cabinet for dedicated mixer, and a knee wall in dining room with frosted glass cap back lit with LED lights. We modified the side false door layouts to line up with the fronts of the pantry/oven cabinet for a consistent look.
