So you want a new kitchen in time to cook Thanksgiving dinner for your family…
November is months away and there’s plenty of time! Not exactly…
For a successful kitchen remodel, you want to allow plenty of time to plan up front in order to avoid any costly delays or surprises. At Case, we follow a simple 3 step process to give you the best experience possible.
First things first, let’s talk. What are your wants and needs? Are you looking for a simple update of your current materials (pull and replace everything) or are we re-configuring or expanding your current space (custom)? There is time and cost associated with each scenario. We will take a tour of your home and provide you with rough budget and time ranges for each scenario. If we are in line with what you are prepared to invest, we can proceed to our first phase.
Phase One covers the overall layout of your kitchen. Let’s look at 3 designs that fit your space, needs, and budget. Each design will have a more precise budget range to help you make the best decision for you and your family. This phase takes on average between 3-5 weeks.
When we have our refined layout, we move to Phase Two. This is when the fun really begins! We select all of the details of your kitchen- appliances, cabinets, countertops, flooring, lighting, plumbing fixtures, backsplash tile, etc. We also bring all of the specialists out to inspect your project such as our Project Manager, plumber, and electrician. This phase can take between 2-4 weeks.
At the end of Phase Two we will sign a fixed price contract. Then we will order all of the materials and submit for the building permit. Once we have all of the materials, we can begin construction. Depending on the materials selected, this can take 5-8 weeks.
Phase Three is construction. On average, a pull and replace kitchen takes between 4-6 weeks and a custom reconfigure or expanded kitchen can take 6-8 weeks or more.
What does this mean for your Thanksgiving timing? Let’s go backwards. If we want to complete construction by November 15th – we need 4-8 weeks for construction so we must begin construction September 27th. We need 5-8 weeks to order materials so we should sign our fixed price contract August 9th. It takes 2-4 weeks during Phase Two so we must start selections July 12th. It takes 3-5 weeks to go over designs in Phase One so we need to measure your kitchen by June 7th.
I look forward to hearing from you soon with any questions or to talk about your project!
