Our Case Cares Initiatives
Case Cares was established in 2007 by Case Design/Remodeling, Inc. to identify and provide volunteer services, resources, and funding to organizations in the metro DC area.
The mission is to evaluate the needs of our employees, our community, our clients, and our industry and channel our endeavors in the appropriate direction. This program is not about simply making contributions to charities, it is about making a difference through our collective accomplishments.
Case Cares has worked with the following charities and organizations:
- Case donated 250 backpacks filled with school supplies to the children of Payne Elementary School.
- Case employees participated in a one-day work-a-thon at Payne Elementary School through Hands on DC to help refresh the overall appearance of the school.
- American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure Ride in Reston, Virginia.
- Participating with Habitat for Humanity Restore in an effort to recycle materials and appliances from remodeling projects.
- Donations to employees church groups to assist in the rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina.
- Hosted blood drives at the Case office on behalf of the American Red Cross.
- Donated over 1000 books to Payne Elementary School for their newly renovated library.
- Participated in one-day work-a-thon at Cardozo Senior High School through Hands on DC.
Case and Homes for Our Troops Join Forces to Build a New Home for a U.S. Marine Veteran and His Family
Homes for Our Troops Case is excited to be serving as the general contractor on a new home being built in Frederick, MD for a severely injured U.S. Marine veteran through Homes for our Troops. The home is being built for U.S. Marine veteran Sgt. Adam Kisielewski and his family. Founded in 2004, Homes for Our Troops is a national non-profit organization that assists veterans and their families by collecting donations of money, building materials and professional labor, as well as coordinates the process of building a specially adapted home, free of cost, to the veteran and his or her family.
Kisielewski lost his left arm at the shoulder and his right leg below the knee when an explosive device detonated near Fallujah, Iraq, in August 2005. As a result of his injuries, Kisielewski’s current multi-level home is not completely accessible. A specially adapted home, designed and built to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star program’s guidelines, will enable Kisielewski to have more freedom and independence and live comfortably with his family.
According to Bruce Case, president of Case Design/Remodeling, “Case is honored to contribute to Homes for Our Troops, and we welcome the opportunity to help repay Sgt. Kisielewski and his family for the incredible sacrifice they made for our country”.
We are excited to share the progress as this new home takes shape.
The Case Scholarship Fund
One of the initiatives Case is most proud of is the Case Scholarship Fund. For the past 10 years, Case has been awarding money to the children of Case team members who are entering their freshman year in college. Over this time more than 50 incoming freshman have benefited from the scholarship. This is a great benefit to help ease the financial transition into college. Since its inception the fund has donated over $25,000 to its recipients.
A Successful Blood Drive
On Wednesday, June 2nd Case Design/Remodeling partnered with W.C. & A.N. Miller Realtors, a Long & Foster Company, to host a blood drive. The blood drive was held in conjunction with Inova Blood Donor Services which is part of the award-winning not-for-profit Inova Health System that consists of hospitals and other health services including emergency and urgent care centers, home care, nursing homes, and mental health and wellness centers. Governed by a voluntary board of community members, Inova’s mission is to improve the health of the diverse community they serve through excellence in patient care, education and research. This was the 5th blood drive held by Case. Twenty-seven employees from Case and Miller donated blood. Over twenty pints of blood were collected which will help more than 60 patients in local hospitals.
Case and HomeStretch Partner to Help Five Falls Church, Virginia Families
Case Design/Remodeling, Inc., partnered with HomeStretch a non-profit organization which assists homeless families to become self-sufficient on Saturday, March 13th to rehabilitate 5 kitchens within their transitional housing program.
Case Design/Remodeling provided over 20 experienced lead carpenters to execute all five renovations in one day. “The value in what Case did for us is incalculable. In trying to support over 70 families and having only two maintenance employees with a limited budget, kitchen remodeling is a luxury,” said Christopher Fay, Executive Director of HomeStretch.
“We’re thrilled that an organization such as HomeStretch can use our skilled craftsmen to help improve the lives of families in the Falls Church community”; added Bruce Case, president of Case Design/Remodeling, Inc. “HomeStretch is a well run organization that truly helps families get back on their feet by providing transitional housing and promoting self-sufficiency. They are a great partner in the community.” adds Case.
Christopher Fay of HomeStretch adds, “The skill set needed for replacing the cabinets and countertops and everything else needed for the repairs is beyond our capability. The five kitchens that Case remodeled for us were in desperate need of repairs. When families move out and new families move into the Home Stretch units the homes undergo a lot of wear and tear. It has been a blessing for us to have found Case and they have worked miracles to get these units back in shape. We as well as the families are truly appreciative and look forward to a continued relationship with Case.”
