FRED CASE
Founder, Co-Chairman, and CEO, Case Design/Remodeling, Inc. and Case Handyman and Remodeling Services, LLC

Credited with starting the design/build system in remodeling, and recognized by his peers as a true innovator, Frederic F. Case, CR, has certainly made his mark on the remodeling industry. Fred founded Case Construction Company, now Case Design/Remodeling in 1961, out of the basement of his home. Since that time, Case has grown exponentially on both a local and national level. Case Design/Remodeling is now the largest full-service remodeling organization in the metro DC area. And in 1997 the Case® Handyman and Remodeling Services franchise system was launched. Today there are more than 120 Case franchise territories around the country.
Fred’s career has been one of unselfishness, focusing much of his efforts on advancing the remodeling industry as a whole. Throughout his career, he has served on the Board of Directors of the National Remodeling Association, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, and as Chairman of NARI's Education and Certification Programs which he played an integral role in launching. In fact, Fred was heavily involved in joining the National Remodeling Association and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry together. Fred has also participated in numerous speaking engagements at national remodeling conventions; has appeared as a guest on numerous local and national television shows; and has participated as a regular radio talk show guest.
Fred’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. He has been recognized with numerous distinctive honors throughout his career. In the late 80’s he received the Harold Hammerman “Spirit of Education” award. In 2002, he was inducted into the National Remodeling Hall of Fame. And most recently he was recognized with the Foundation Award for Remodeler of the Year. Industry leaders have credited Fred for his significant and lasting impact in the industry.
As a way of giving back to the industry he loves, Fred launched the Fred Case Remodeling Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2007. The award recognizes innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in the remodeling industry.
MARK RICHARDSON
Co-Chairman, Case Design/Remodeling, Inc. and Case Handyman & Remodeling Services, LLC
Mark Richardson, CR is Co-Chairman of Case Design/Remodeling, Inc. the DC metropolitan area’s largest full-service remodeling organization, and Co-Chairman of Case Handyman and Remodeling Services, LLC national franchise system. Mark also heads up the Case Institute of Remodeling, an educational arm of Case that provides ongoing training, resources and business tools for the professional remodeling community.
As an enthusiastic advocate of educating both consumers and professionals in all related sectors of the remodeling industry, Mark is a frequent national speaker on remodeling issues. The author of two monthly columns on industry and business topics for Remodeling Magazine and Think Business, Richardson is a regular contributor to a number of industry newsletters as well. Mark is featured in national media outlets such as HGTV, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Market Watch and Forbes Magazine among others.
Mark received his Bachelor of Architecture with honors from Virginia Tech. He earned his Certified Remodeler (CR) designation from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) in 1986. In June of 2006, Mark was named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year in Real Estate & Construction for the Maryland Region. He is the only remodeler in the twenty-year history of the program to receive this distinction. In 2008, he was inducted into the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers Hall of Fame.
Mark is an active Board Member of the Better Business Bureau of Greater Washington DC, the GE Money Board and the advisory council of Advantage Media. Harvard University recently appointed Richardson as liaison for Harvard’s Remodeling Futures Program and the remodeling industry. He, along with Fred Case, holds a seat on the Remodeling Futures Board of Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies.
As the remodeling industry continues to evolve, so does Mark Richardson. He is the author of the popular book titled: “How Fit is Your Business?” Released in the fall of 2008, the book transcends the business arena, drawing a unique parallel between one’s personal health and fitness and the structure of a business.
BRUCE CASE, MBA, CLC, CFE, GAC

Bruce Case is President of Case Design/Remodeling, Inc. – a multi-faceted, innovative residential remodeling business with a focus on excellence. In addition to being a leading full service home improvement organization, Case’s business portfolio expands into an online knowledge database, CaseInstituteofRemodeling.com, software licensing and franchising. As a second generation member of the Case family to serve on the senior management team, Bruce has continued to enhance this tradition of excellence. Since starting his career with Case in 1996, Bruce has been instrumental in the success and growth of the organization.
With an undergraduate degree in Economics and Psychology from Vanderbilt University and a Masters in Business from George Mason University, Bruce is committed to education and to professional improvement. He has obtained certifications in remodeling (Certified Lead Carpenter), in green building practices (Green Advantage), in franchising (Certified Franchise Executive) and in insurance (Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter).
Bruce is an active contributor to the remodeling industry including delivering advice through weekly blog posts at http://www.housingzone.com/blog/860000686.html. He is a member of the National Housing Quality Executive Council. He has done numerous speaking engagements with the National Remodeling Show, Pella’s Pro Expo, the Journal of Light Construction’s Residential Construction Shows, and at Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies. He has also participated with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and their educational webinars.
Bruce has been featured in a variety of consumer and industry publications including Remodeling Magazine, Readers Digest, The Washington Post, the Journal of Light Construction, and Professional Remodeler.
He currently resides in Northern Virginia with his wife, daughter, dog and cat.
BILL MILLHOLLAND
Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Bill Millholland is the Executive Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Case. Bill joined Case in January of 1990 as an Assistant Project Designer. For almost two decades, he has been instrumental in the growth and positioning of Case as a brand leader in home improvement in the Washington, D.C. Area. His divisions account for more than half of Case's annual revenue.
As an advocate of the remodeling industry, Bill frequently shares his remodeling knowledge and insight, facilitating talks at real estate companies, local home improvement shows and major industry events across the country. He is also an active member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), serving as a Director At-Large for the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Chapter.
Bill has been featured in publications such as The Washington Post, Washington Business Journal, and the Bethesda/Chevy Chase Gazette and other related media outlets. He has a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Maryland in College Park, MD.
JOAQUIN ERAZO, JR.
Senior Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations
Joaquin leads all marketing, advertising, public relations, and web-based strategies for the Case businesses. He is responsible for all client acquisition and client retention efforts for Case. He brings over 18 years of experience in senior marketing positions as well as an MBA from Averett University.
Joining Case in 1999, he built one of the best marketing team's in the industry. He and his team have been valuable contributors to building the Case brand in the Washington DC market as well as across the country through Case's franchise system. The Case marketing team has also been recognized by receiving two Pinnacle awards. Their efforts have helped Case remain at the forefront of the remodeling industry.
Joaquin is a recognized national speaker and marketing expert who regularly speaks at industry trade shows, events, and is called upon for expert advice on marketing topics by editors from Remodeling Magazine, Professional Remodeler, Qualified Remodeler, The Washington Post, and Entrepreneur.
Passionate about staying current in marketing, he's a member of The American Marketing Association (AMA), and is active in networking groups for Franchising World and The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Network.
MIKE ETHIER
Senior Vice President & Director of Production
Michael is a Sr. Vice President and Director of Production for CDR. He joined Case in 1987 as a Project Manager in the Design/Build division. Today, Michael oversees the production processes for all of Case's divisions to make sure that the Case crews are maximizing efficiencies. Michael's involvement ensures that our production crews are meeting client expectations.
Michael holds a Certified Remodeler (CR) designation. He has been a member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for the past 20 years and holds certificates with Green Advantage and Lead Paint Abatement from the Department of the Environment. Michael also works closely with the Better Business Bureau and other consumer groups to maintain and manage Case's reputation and brand standards.
Michael received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Colorado St. University.
JAN SHAUT
Senior Vice President
Jan Shaut is a Senior Vice-President for Case Design/Remodeling, Inc. Jan brings a wealth of knowledge and history to Case having joined the company in 1973. For over three decades, Jan has been able to assist Case in many diverse areas. Today, she oversees the following areas:
o Administration as well as facilities management for 3 local offices
o The Information Technology (IT) department
o The Human Resources department
Jan is married with three children and is a long-term Bethesda, MD resident.
GEORGE WEISSGERBER
Senior Vice President & Director of Research and Development
George is Senior Vice President and Director of Business Resources. He began his career at Case in 1985 as a carpenter. Armed with a tool belt and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from West Virginia University, his creativity, skills and craftsmanship as a lead carpenter quickly got the attention of management and he was promoted to Project Manager. As Case grew in the early 90's, the company tapped into George's experiences and abilities to spearhead the new Case Handyman Division which eventually grew into the largest division of Case.
Case began to boom in the mid 90's and George was tasked with migrating the existing pad and pencil estimating process into the computer age. Applying his decades of creative and practical experiences, George began a process that would lead him to the successful development, implementation and branding of Case's proprietary estimating system, the Case Job Estimating System (CJES). This system allowed Case to realize consistency on projects and proved to be one of the special ingredients in the launch of Case's franchise system in 1997.
Today, George is responsible and accountable for corporate estimating, improving processes, exploring new business opportunities and leveraging relationships with manufacturer’s, suppliers and subcontractors.
FRANK HARLOW
Vice President & General Manager
For more than 35 years Frank has maintained a true passion for the remodeling industry. This started at the young age of 17 when Frank began working for his father at his construction company. And his thirst to grow and learn is still as strong today. Frank attended Emory and Henry College in Emory, VA. He holds many National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) certifications including; Certified Remodeler (CR), Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), and Green Advantage Certified (GAC).
Frank joined the Case Team in 2000 as a carpenter. Within 6 months of joining the company, he was promoted to General Manager of the Falls Church office. In 2002 he was promoted to Director of the Handyman Division. And this year, Frank was promoted to Vice President of Case and General Manager of the Virginia Team. Franks passion is striving to achieve excellence in all areas of the remodeling business.
In his free time Frank enjoys working on landscaping projects at his home as well as spending time with his three granddaughters.
RICK MATUS
Vice President & General Manager
From an early age Rick knew that he wanted to take his abilities in drawing and art and combine them with his interest in construction. He embarked on that calling by obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from the University of Maryland. He then began his architecture career joining Case Design/Remodeling in 1989 as an Assistant Project Designer. Over the past twenty years with Case, Rick has assumed many positions within the company. From Assistant Project Designer he moved to Project Designer, to Senior Project Designer, to Director of Design and finally to Vice President and General Manager. His many positions and advancements have allowed him to grow his design, customer service and leadership skills to a level that is highly respected by both clients and team members.
Rick also served in the US Marine Corps reserves for nine years in a Civil Affairs Unit, during which he traveled the world and participated in the Panama Invasion and the Persian Gulf War. He currently resides in Rockville, MD with his wife and two sons.
